Sept. 30, 2022 - CLT is holding a Triennial Part 139 Disaster Exercise from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, to test its emergency protocols and procedures. Please be aware the public and passengers may see additional emergency traffic around the Airport that day.

Charlotte Douglas is required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct a full-scale exercise every three years.

The event will involve a simulated airplane incident. Participants will include approximately 100 volunteers to portrat injured passengers, American Airlines staff and more than 100 emergency responders, including the Charlotte Fire Department, Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Services Agency, Airport Operations, Airport Security and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.

CLT also will activate its Airport Emergency Operations Center with multiple stakeholders and partners working through the exercise scenario.

A dozen evaluators onsite will assess the overall drill and performance of the responders. The Airport will review feedback from the evaluation team, responders and volunteers to make any needed emergency plan improvements.
