CLT’s Looks Back on Top Moments of 2022
Terminal canopy installation over upper roadway, white canopy with cranes and vehicle traffic

The year gone by was a blur. A lot happened around CLT in 2022.

It started with three consecutive winter storms in January. It ended with a busy holiday travel period.

In between, there were openings of a portion of the Terminal Lobby Expansion and the expansion of Concourse E. There was the groundbreaking of Concourse A Expansion – Phase II, the 40th anniversary terminal celebration and 86 years of commercial aviation in Charlotte, new passenger amenities and the Federal Aviation Administration Air Traffic Control Tower dedication. Awards were earned for our safety and sustainability initiatives, and campaigns showcased our community engagement efforts and CLT as an employer of choice.

The month of October felt like a year on its own: Tropical Storm Ian, the Triennial Disaster Drill, the Runway 5K, the beloved Airport Overlook closing (followed by opening a temporary one and commitment to build a new, permanent location in 2024) the terminal canopy installation, roadway closures … busy, indeed.

For a list of all the Top Moments of 2022, go to your favorite Airport social media channel (that would be @CLTairport on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube) on Dec. 26 and 27 for a recap of the year.

As we gear up for what will be an even busier 2023, happy holidays.
