APRIL 20, 2023 - April 3 dawned overcast and cool at Ballantyne Country Club as the Airport Community Partnerships (ACP) staged the 4th edition of the CLT Charity Golf Tournament.

Fifty-one companies sponsored the event that sold out with 144 participants enjoying a day of golf to benefit

“Historically, our site at Renaissance West is what we considered ‘unfunded.’ What does that mean? That means we didn’t have a large faith or community partner standing behind it financially,” said Jonathan Russell in an email to the participants.

“Organizationally, we remain committed to the school because there is a need there. So, we utilize the dollars we raise with corporate partners, foundations and individuals to fund it, Russell said. “With this tournament and its sponsors standing behind it, this gives us more flexibility with dollars we raise annually to go where there are other needs in Charlotte.”

Money raised from the 2023 tournament will be announced at a later date. In four years the golf tournament has raised more than $355,000 benefitting Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont Construction Skills Center and the Renaissance West Community Initiative.

Renaissance West STEAM Academy was chosen as the 2023 beneficiary. The Academy serves students from multiple schools and neighborhoods surrounding the Airport. ACP’s goal has always been to support programs that help Airport neighbors.
