Healthier Community Begins with Innovative Sustainability

Aug. 18, 2022 – The Aviation Department is committed to sustainable practices in its daily operations and strives to be a leader in environmental stewardship. In 2021:

  • 80%+ of the water used to wash our shuttle buses was reclaimed for reuse.
  • Diesel buses are beginning to be replaced by electric;10 are on the road so far.
  • 142,529 pounds of used cooking oil was collected, and nearly all was recycled into renewable diesel.
  • 36,325 tons of crushed concrete was reused in Airport construction.
