Spring Brings More to Enjoy at CLT

Buying 'Local' Easier at CLT

Local products sourced in North and South Carolina and business with local and regional connections to the Carolinas are getting special attention at CLT where the CLT Local campaign, launched in December.

“This is a great way for our customers to get a sense of place,” said Terminal Concessions Manager Jennifer Long.  “The Airport itself may be the only experience with Charlotte for some traveling through the city, so highlighting some of what Charlotte is about is important.”

Local products include Sweet Girl Cookies, Tastebuds Popcorn and Cloister Honey at 1897 Market (Atrium). There’s also the Old School Made Brand (a variety of cookie and biscuit mixes and jams) and Bruce Julian Heritage Foods (Bloody Mary mix, snack mix and more) at Charlotte Supply Co. (The Plaza). The list goes on and on, along with local Carolina businesses at CLT, such as Salsarita’s, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar and Bojangles.

Look for the CLT Local seal at businesses, on wayfinding signage throughout the Airport and on cltairport.com and on the Airport app.

Technology Improves Security Wait Times

Five new Automated Screening Lanes (ASLs) at Checkpoint E are hard at work enhancing security efficiency and decreasing the amount of time travelers spend in the security screening process. The lanes allow multiple passengers to simultaneously place their items in bins for screening. Learn more.

CLT paid for the ASLs, testing, maintenance and December installation costs. Charlotte Douglas is the first airport in the Carolinas to receive the ASLs.

ASLs will be added to other checkpoints as the Terminal Lobby Expansion progresses, complimenting the new real-time security wait times feature available on the CLT website and through the Airport app.

New Concessions Now Open

Let’s talk chocolate and burgers at Charlotte Douglas.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory opened in early February on the Concourse A Connector. It’s the Airport’s third location, which also has storefronts on the D/E Connector and in Baggage Claim. For chocolate lovers, it’s a small taste of paradise to indulge in clusters, caramels, creams, meltaways, truffles and molded chocolates. Oh, and let’s not forget the caramel and candy apples.

This spring on Concourse B Summer House will begin serving mouth-watering burgers with names such as American-Impossible Burger and BBQ double cheeseburger. Other menu items are tacos, sandwiches, salads and omelets. The restaurant touts itself as an escape to the warmth and laid-back vibes of the West Coast.
