Airport to Shift Commercial Traffic on Terminal Curb Front Tonight
Personal Vehicle Traffic Will Not Be Impacted

October 23, 2017 - Due to Phase I completion of the Elevated Roadway and Terminal Curb Front, beginning 11 p.m. tonight all commercial vehicles (lower level) will shift to the recently constructed lanes near the Hourly Parking Deck.

The shift will allow Phase II of the project to begin with construction of the three inside lanes that currently accommodate commercial vehicles.

Personal vehicle traffic will not be impacted during this phase.

Passengers and employees should be aware of the following:

  • All commercial vehicles will use the same pickup and drop off zone.
  • Airport busses will continue to utilize the same on-site parking areas.
  • All off-site commercial vehicles including CATS, hotel shuttles, off-site parking vendors and Prime Flight will continue the same service as currently provided.
  • Pedestrian walkways are in place across from the new construction zone. Access from the terminal to the Hourly Deck and Rental Car Facility will remain the same. Signage is in place for assistance.

When completed in 2018, the Elevated Roadway and Terminal Curb Front will feature a total of 16 lanes to accommodate traffic. Traffic flow will be reconfigured on each level; commercial vehicles will move to the three inside lanes and personal vehicles to the five outside lanes.

Destination CLT encompasses the first phase of the Airport's recently completed Master Plan Update, a collaborative effort with airline partners and the FAA.
