Destination CLT's Concourse A Expansion Opens This Summer

February 2, 2018- Concourse A Expansion – Phase I, opens this summer at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The project is currently 70 percent complete.

The nine-gate, 229,807-square foot addition will house United, Southwest, JetBlue, Frontier and Air Canada. Watch this video for a peek inside.

The expansion is comprised of 733 window panes, each containing its own IP address connected to four controllers. The panes will tint according to sunlight exposure to control climate and light into the building.

Artwork will feature a LED media wall displaying cutting edge digital technology. It will be one of the largest public artworks of its kind in the world and visible from both inside and outside the terminal.

Chairs in the gate seating areas will have integrated power, allowing passengers to charge their various electronic devices.

Panera Bread, Smashburger, NoDa Bar, TripAdvisor, Charlotte's Landing and InMotion are just a few of the concessions opening in the expansion.

Overall cost of the project, which also includes construction of the concrete ramp and taxi lanes, is approximately $200 million. Concourse A Expansion –Phase I is part of Destination CLT, the Airport's $2.5 billion capital investment program to expand CLT's roadways, curb front, airfield and terminal.
