Charlotte Douglas International Airport CLT is among the nation’s top 10 best airports in in the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Large Airport after a four-week online vote.

CLT was among the nominees chosen by a panel of relevant experts, which includes a combination of editors from USA Today and 10Best.com, relevant expert contributors and sources for both these media and other Gannett properties.
Two concessions operated by HMSHost at CLT were named winners in three Readers' Choice awards categories:
- Best Airport Bar - No. 5. Whisky River
- Best Airport Grab-And-Go Food - No. 10 1897 Market
- Best Airport Sit-Down Restaurant - No. 6 Whisky River
The panel cited the Airport’s status as American Airlines’ second-largest hub and the signature white rocking chairs throughout the terminal, among others, as part of the Airport’s outstanding amenities, along with the wealth of nonstop destinations.
The distinctions is another feather in the cap for CLT, which was recently named the fifth most connected domestic Airport by OAG and named the most efficient North American Airport with 30+ million passengers by the Air Transport Regional Society.
Earlier this summer, Airports Council International ranked Charlotte Douglas as the 7th busiest airport in the world for arrivals and departures. For passenger traffic the Airport lands at 10th nationwide and 19th globally.
CLT handled 505,589 arrivals and departures last year and served nearly 48 million passengers, which is a 10% jump from 43 million passengers in 2021 and only 5% below the record-breaking 50 million passengers in 2019.
CLT expects a full recovery from the pandemic in 2023, one year earlier than previously forecasted.
