Aug. 4, 2021 - CLT passengers will notice new ways to enter and exit the terminal this month as Terminal Lobby Expansion (TLE) construction moves into a new phase. Work on the terminal lobby to date has primarily been on the building’s west end but will shift to the east side, nearest to Checkpoint E.
To accommodate the switch, the following door changes will take effect beginning Wednesday, Aug. 18:
- Ticketing level: Door 4 will close. Existing Door 3 remains open. A new Door 1 (west end passageway) opens along with a new passenger bridge from the Upper Roadway on the east end nearest Checkpoint E.
- Baggage Claim level: Door 4 will close. Existing Door 3 remains open and a new Door 1 with passageway opens on the terminal’s west end.
Signage will help guide passengers, who are reminded to plan ahead for their travels. Navigating around construction will be necessary. Please see the attached graphic.
The Terminal Lobby Expansion is a $608 million project that will transform the Airport’s entrance and create more space in Departures/Ticketing and Arrivals/Baggage Claim. The Airport broke ground Dec. 10, 2019 on the five-year signature project. Work, which will be complete in 2025, is part of Destination CLT, a $2.5-billion to $3.1-billion capital investment to accommodate passenger growth through 2035.
