CLT Launches Virtual Presentation on Proposed Capacity Enhancement Project

Charlotte Douglas International Airport launched a virtual presentation to share information and gather feedback as part of an Environmental Assessment (EA) of a proposal to build a new runway and expand two concourses.

The 20-minute presentation, created in lieu of in-person meetings because of the COVID-19 public health emergency, reviews the EA process, identifies the project’s purpose and need and discusses alternatives developed and considered.

The EA will evaluate 18 potential direct, indirect and cumulative environmental impacts that may result from the proposal. They include noise and noise-compatible land use, air quality, water resources, historic resources and socioeconomics and environmental justice.

The community is encouraged to watch the presentation and provide feedback by Jan. 4. If special accommodations, such as audio or visual assistance, are required to view the virtual presentation, please leave a message at 407-440-1060.

For additional information about the EA and instructions on how to provide comments, please visit the project website: https://www.airportprojects.net/CLT-Capacity-EA/.
