Mid-Year Passenger Numbers Climb

July 31, 2024 – CLT is on track to break its 53.4 million passenger record set in 2023.

Mid-year numbers show from January through June 2024 the Airport served 29.5 million passengers, which is up 15.6% from the 25.5 million who flew to from and through Charlotte Douglas during that same period in 2023.

In fact, nine out of the 10 busiest days at CLT checkpoints have been this year. The Transportation Security Administration screened more than 40,000 people on each of those days.

Aircraft arrivals and departures also have increased 14.6% to 264,516 from January through June 2024 compared to 230,883 during the first six months of 2023. American, which houses its second largest hub at Charlotte Douglas, is operating its largest summer schedule ever at CLT, serving nearly 75,000 flights between May 17 and Sept. 3.

Looking ahead, there’s no slowing down. The remainder of this summer is expected to see record-high passenger numbers. Seats on the market (the number of seats airlines make available to passengers) for all CLT airlines from July through September are projected to be up 11% from last year. If you’re planning to fly, Don’t Wing It, Prepare to Fly:
