Record-Breaking July 4 Crowds Expected
Passengers Encouraged to Plan Ahead, Don’t Fly by the Seat of Your Pants

Charlotte Douglas International Airport is anticipating record-breaking crowds for the upcoming Fourth of July weekend at the midway point of CLT’s summer travel season.

The Airport is expecting 229,900 passenger screenings from Thursday, June 29 through Wednesday, July 5, an increase of 13% from the same time last year and 23% busier than 2019 (pre-pandemic). That is in addition to the approximately 367,000 connecting passengers during that period.

Passenger numbers for the summer travel season are projected to exceed 2019 by approximately 10%.

CLT will have additional staff in the lobby, dressed in bright yellow vests, to guide and assist passengers.
