Arrive Early Due to Spring Break Travel

Spring Break for local school districts will bring increased travel demand to CLT this weekend for passengers using the security checkpoints and parking facilities.

The Airport’s airline partners are advising customers to arrive at the Airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time from Friday, April 8 through Sunday, April 10.

CLT is expecting the following numbers for flyers who will begin their trip at Charlotte Douglas:

  • Friday, April 8 – 32,110
  • Saturday, April 9 – 28,630
  • Sunday, April 10 – 32,960

On a normal day, the Airport averages 23,000 originating passengers. This is in addition to the 60,000 daily passengers who are also expected to connect through CLT Friday through Sunday.

To assist with the planning process, view estimated security wait times at each checkpoint, including Standard and TSA PreCheck® lines at cltairport.com or on the free mobile app (download at the App Store or on Google Play).

Book parking online at parkCLT.com to complete the quick process that provides a contactless parking experience. Book early for the best rates. Same-day booking is limited for all products, with a minimum of six hours in advance. Please note if you have a reservation, you will be allowed to enter that lot with your QR code regardless of whether the lot has been designated closed.

The Express Deck, located off Harlee Avenue and Wilkinson Boulevard, is another great option. It is a short trip by shuttle bus to and from the terminal.

For other lots and decks, visit CLT’s real-time parking map or call 704.359.5555 to hear the latest parking conditions.

Wear a Face Covering

Safety measures remain in place at Charlotte Douglas. Per a Transportation Security Administration mandate, all passengers and visitors to Airport facilities are required to wear a face mask, including onboard shuttle buses.

Face masks are available for passengers upon request at the Airport Visitor Info Center on the Baggage Claim level and at all TSA checkpoint podiums. All airlines serving CLT require passengers to wear a face mask to board a flight as well.
