Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, all passenger parking at Charlotte Douglas International Airport will move temporarily to the Hourly Deck. All other passenger lots will close to incoming vehicles.
The Hourly Deck provides parking within walking distance of the terminal to allow passengers to easily comply with social distancing recommendations. The adjustment follows changes in parking demand in response to COVID-19. It also addresses operational efficiency.
Cost for parking in the Hourly Deck will be reduced to $10 a day. For those who choose to use the lot for short-term parking, the first hour of parking will remain free. The entrance to the lot is along Josh Birmingham Parkway to the left as drivers approach the terminal.
Buses will continue to shuttle returning passengers to vehicles remaining in the other lots. Those lots will remain open for departing vehicles. Routes have been adjusted to limit the length of time a passenger spends on the bus. This, along with continued deep cleaning of buses at the beginning of each shift, will lessen potential exposure.
The Hourly Deck has 4,400 spaces on levels four through seven reserved for customers. Levels one through three house CLT’s Rental Car Facility.
The Aviation Department is using social media, its website, and digital signage along Josh Birmingham Parkway to alert customers of this upcoming change.
