11 a.m., Monday, Jan.17, 2022

  • Airlines continue to resume operations today.
  • Before leaving for the airport, passengers are advised to frequently check with their air carrier for information on cancelations or delays.
  • The terminal lobby will remain busy today. Allow plenty of time for parking, check-in and security checkpoints.
  • Weather conditions in other parts of the country may affect additional flights today.
  • Fourteen aircraft have been deiced this morning and deicing operations will continue as needed to assist airlines.
  • Black ice may be on many roadways leading to the Airport.  Passengers should use caution if driving to CLT.  
  • Staff continues to treat any remaining ice on the roadways and airfield.

5:22 a.m., Monday, Jan.17, 2022

  • The airport is open and operational.
  • Several flight cancelations are occurring this morning.
  • Most airlines plan to resume full operations by this afternoon.  
  • Weather conditions in other parts of the country may affect flights today.
  • Travelers are encouraged to frequently check with their air carrier for information on cancelations or delays before coming to the Airport.
  • Black ice may be on many roadways leading to the Airport. Passengers should use caution if driving to CLT.
  • Staff continues to focus on removing snow and ice from the airfield and airport roadways, overpasses and parking lots.
  • All three of the Airport's parallel runways are open.
  • Deicing operations have resumed this morning.
  • TSA security checkpoints are opening and airport shuttle buses are operating. 
  • CLT continues to work with its partners and airlines to assist passengers.

Inclement Winter Weather Advisory No. 5
9:41 p.m., Sunday, Jan.16, 2022

  • Several flight cancelations are scheduled for tomorrow morning. Most airlines plan to resume full operations by the afternoon.
  • Travelers are encouraged to frequently check with their air carrier for any cancelations or delays before coming to the Airport.
  • Tonight, airport staff will focus on clearing snow and ice from the airfield and airport roadways, overpasses and parking lots.
  • Deicing operations are scheduled to resume in the morning. Nine planes were deiced today.
  • Shuttle buses will operate as normal on Monday.
  • TSA security checkpoints will open in the morning.  
  • Currently, all three of the Airport’s parallel runways are open.
  • Black ice may be on roadways leading to the Airport. Passengers should use caution when driving to Charlotte Douglas.
  • CLT continues to work with its partners and airlines to assist passengers.

Inclement Winter Weather Advisory No. 4
5:01 p.m., Sunday, Jan.16, 2022

  • Charlotte Douglas International Airport remains open.
  • Flight cancelations continue throughout this evening and tonight. American Airlines, which operates 90% of CLT flights, has canceled all departing flights today and more than 100 flights for Monday. 
  • Travelers are advised to check with their airline for information on cancelations, delays or rebooking before coming to the Airport.
  • Plowing of the runways and taxiways is ongoing.
  • Currently, one of CLT’s three parallel runways is open.
  • All CLT roadways and bridges have been treated.
  • Roads to the Airport, however, may be hazardous. Please use caution when driving.  
  • Deicing trucks are on-site for airlines if needed. Nine airplanes have been deiced today.
  • Light sleet and freezing rain continue to fall at the Airport.  
  • The next winter weather update will be posted by 10 p.m.

11:25 a.m., Sunday, Jan.16, 2022

  • Charlotte Douglas International Airport remains open.
  • The majority of airlines serving CLT have canceled flights for today. Passengers should check with their airline for cancelations or delays before coming to the Airport.  
  • The Airport’s snow teams were activated last night.
  • Five airplanes were deiced this morning. CLT has had minimal departures today.
  • Currently, two of CLT’s three parallel runways are open.
  • Plowing and deicing of the airfield are in progress.
  • Airport roadways, overpasses and parking lots continue to be cleared.
  • Sleet and freezing rain are the predominant precipitation at this time.
  • Currently, Charlotte Douglas has 1 to 1.5 inches of snow with ice accumulation.
  • The next winter weather advisory will be posted before 5 p.m.

  • Charlotte Douglas International Airport remains open.
  • Deicing trucks are on standby if needed by the airlines.
  • Currently, all three parallel runways are open.
  • Airlines are reporting significant cancelations throughout today.
  • Passengers are encouraged to check with their airline for any cancelations or delays before coming to the Airport.
  • The airfield, airport roadways, overpasses and parking lots were pretreated for snow and ice overnight.
  • Drivers are asked to check roadway conditions, which may be dangerous, before leaving for CLT.   
  • CLT continues to work with its partners and airlines throughout this inclement weather event.
  • More advisories will be posted today on CLT’s website and social media platforms.

  • Charlotte Douglas International Airport continues to monitor the weather closely and remains open and operational.
  • Airlines are reporting flight cancelations for tonight and tomorrow.
  • Passengers are advised to check with their airline for any cancelations or delays before coming to the Airport.
  • The Airport’s snow teams will be activated tonight.
  • Airport roadways, overpasses, parking lots and the airfield will be pretreated overnight.
  • The Aviation Department continues to work with its partners and airlines to assist passengers.
