Buttigieg Announces $27 Million for CLT

March 25, 2024 – CLT will receive $27 million to replace 16 passenger boarding bridges and equipment used to power and air condition the jetways. The funding was announced Feb. 15 by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg. While on a stop at CLT, he also announced $970 million in funding planned for 114 airports nationwide.

The funding adds to the terminal's expansion and modernization and other Destination CLT projects. “Without public investment in our infrastructure and strong partnerships with numerous agencies, these improvements, expansions and enhancements would not be possible,” CLT CEO Haley Gentry said.

N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper, Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, Charlotte City Council members, and various community and industry partners attended the announcement.

The money is part of President Joe Biden’s Investing in America agenda.
