Sept. 30, 2022 - Closures are coming soon for CLT roadways and the Airport Overlook due to work associated with North End Around Taxiway construction.
- Beginning Oct. 3, Airport Overlook Drive, the current Airport Overlook and existing Long Term 1 exit will close permanently. Passengers leaving Long Term Lot 1 will exit onto Beacon Drive and continue north to a signalized intersection at Wilkinson Boulevard.
- Starting Oct. 8, the portion of Old Dowd Road between Marshall Drive and the roundabout on Rental Car Road closes permanently. Old Dowd Road from Marshall Drive to Wallace Neal Road also will close for two months.

Motorists seeking to access the Airport from West Boulevard will turn onto Wallace Neal Road and proceed to Old Dowd Road. The detour requires a left turn onto Old Dowd Road and continuing to Sam Wilson Road to the intersection of Wilkinson Boulevard.
A temporary Airport Overlook located at the corner of Old Dowd Road and Airport Overlook Drive will open Oct. 17. The intersection of Old Dowd Road and Marshall Drive will reopen that day for access. The only entry to the temporary Overlook will be via Wilkinson Boulevard to Marshall Drive.
Digital signage will direct drivers.
A new permanent Airport Overlook is currently in design. It will remain on Airport property, very close to Old Dowd Road, and feature spectacular airfield, skyline and terminal views, modern amenities, paved parking and an expanded Food Truck staging area.
