Aviation Department Seeks Ideas for Steele Creek Presbyterian Property

The Aviation Department is looking for ideas for preserving and reusing a historic sanctuary and surrounding property just a mile south of a runway. The City hopes to partner with a public organization or private company to develop a suitable plan for the Steele Creek Presbyterian Church property.

Last month, the city issued an official request for information (RFI) in hopes of finding a concept that will honor the property’s history while also creating some community benefit and positive economic impact.

The Airport purchased the church and adjacent property on Steele Creek Road in 2019 at the congregation’s request, after it voted to merge with another area church. The sanctuary, built in 1889, is considered of local historical significance.

For more information about the RFI process or instructions on how to submit your idea, visit our website. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday.
