What’s New at CLT

Sept. 29, 2020 – Here is what’s new at CLT this fall.

October Brings Added Flights

Looking to get away?

Beginning Oct. 4, Delta Air Lines will launch three daily flights to Boston from CLT. Passengers will fly on an Embraer 175 aircraft.

CLT is ranked among the world’s top 10 busiest airports and welcomed more than 27 million passengers in 2020. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, CLT broke a record in 2019 with more than 50 million passengers.

Eight major carriers, 15 regional carriers and three foreign flag carriers serve CLT with nonstop service to 189 destinations, including 36 international locations and three U.S. territories. See all our destinations on cltairport.com

Airport Volunteers Return to the Terminal

Airport Volunteers are back in the building. Dressed in bright yellow shirts, they’re available to answer questions and point passengers in the right direction.

The Airport Volunteer Program was suspended in mid-March 2020 due to COVID-19. This year, however, many volunteers were eager to return. The Airport’s goal was to bring them back safely.

Volunteers are following COVID-19 safety guidelines, which include wearing a mask, washing their hands often and social distancing when possible. Their return will be implemented in phases over the next several months.

In 2019, volunteers donated 9,295 hours and assisted 301,725 customers, an average of more than 800 flyers daily.

Sign Up Now for Runway 5K Before It Sells Out

Fewer than 50 spots are left for the 2021 return of the CLT Runway 5K.

Don’t miss out. Register today on the official registration site. The cost is $35 per runner and increases to $40 on Oct. 13. Participants 12 and under can register for $15. Children under 2 (stroller category) are free.

The Runway 5K takes place at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23. This year’s course is entirely on CLT’s taxiways and one of CLT’s four runways. There will be great views of the airfield and picturesque photo opportunities.

Proceeds from the run will help fund a Central Piedmont Community College Airport Opportunity Scholarship designed to promote careers in aviation and economic opportunities in Charlotte for local students.
