Oct. 26, 2021 - Here’s what’s been happening in the neighborhood since we last talked.
- The Aviation Department’s Women in Aviation partnered with the Harvest Center of Charlotte for a Home Goods Drive serving members of The Passport Transformation Program. The group gathered and staged the donated items Oct. 7. The Harvest Center of Charlotte exists to serve those who are suffering from situational homelessness, poverty, and unemployment.
- The Airport Job Fair at Bojangles Coliseum on Saturday, Sept. 18 drew 254 job seekers. CLT, its tenants and partners looked to fill full- and part-time and temporary positions due to a nationwide labor shortage. Another Airport Job Fair is tentatively scheduled for March 2022, also at Bojangles Coliseum.
- The first day of October brought a significant milestone to CLT’s ever-growing social media platforms, as the Airport’s Instagram feed eclipsed 16,000 followers. Charlotte Douglas made its debut on the popular photo and video sharing site in 2015. - Many “dreams” came true for the passionate plane spotters at CLT on Oct. 9 and 10 as a chartered American Airlines 787-800 Dreamliner flew in with members of the Philadelphia Eagles onboard ahead up a matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Philadelphia is American’s 787 hub airport, and its visit was the first to the Queen City.
